A race-proven Roadster for a world-renowned racing game

Jaguar has unveiled its third all-electric virtual gaming sports car – the Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Roadster.

After the success of the original Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Coupe and the Vision Gran Turismo SV extreme endurance racing car, Jaguar’s latest all-electric virtual race car joins the grid for the launch of Gran Turismo 7 – the latest and most immersive version of the world famous racing game.

The Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Roadster is an all-electric single-seater that combines the coupé’s race-proven powertrain with a taut, sculpted shape inspired by the iconic and timeless Jaguar D-type.

Oliver Cattell-Ford, Exterior Designer, Jaguar Advanced Design, said: “As an automotive designer, being part of the team that delivered three virtual cars for the Gran Turismo series was a dream project. Since revealing the Vision GT Coupe in 2019 and the Vision GT SV in 2020, we wanted to find the perfect way to showcase the full range of all three cars together when we unveiled the Roadster – the Gran Turismo 7 is the perfect way to do it.

The Roadster is designed to give gamers the pure and visceral driving experience of an open-cockpit Jaguar sports car powered by three electric motors generating a total output of over 1,020hp (750kW) and an instant of 1 200 Nm. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h is less than two seconds.

The flowing surfaces, dramatic lines and perfect proportions of the first two Jaguars Gran Turismo Vision cars are instantly recognizable, but instead of a deployable canopy, the Roadster features a slanted aero screen directly in front of the driver.

Battery power is fed to three lightweight, powerful and compact motors, developed from Jaguar Racing’s experience in Formula E. With one motor on the front axle and two on the rear, total power is 750kW and 1200Nm of immediate electrifying torque. Players will experience this for themselves as they accelerate away from the starting line to reach a top speed of over 320 km/h.

In addition to the new Roadster, players can now – for the first time – drive the Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo S.V. First premiered in December 2020 and still slated for release in Gran Turismo 7, it is an all-electric virtual endurance racing car designed by Jaguar and engineered by Jaguar SV to deliver extreme high-speed performance, traction and stability. Powered by four electric motors developed by Jaguar Racing to deliver 1,400 kW, the GT SV can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 1.65 seconds.

The Jaguar Vision Gran Turismo Convertible, Vision Gran Turismo Coupe and Vision Gran Turismo SV will be available for players from Gran Turismo 7.
