Netflix Reboots Classic ABC Game Show ‘The Mole’

The one-of-a-kind game show series, The mole, would have been rebooted by Netflix.

The new version of the ABC show is slated for release this fall; and it is said to reflect the Belgian series From Mol created by Bart De Pauw, Michael Vanhove, Michael Devliegerand Tom Lenaerts in the late 90s, which served as the inspiration for its counterpart in the American series, as reported by Variety.

Netflix’s reboot will be a “reimagined version” of the classic ABC game show that ran for five seasons between 2001 and 2009. The streamer has reportedly ordered 10 episodes of the series to be produced for its first season.

In the revival, 12 contestants will have to work together to complete a variety of challenges that all add money to a pot – which only one of them will win.

Among the players is a person who has been secretly referred to as “the mole” and throughout the competitions is responsible for sabotaging the group’s efforts to make money. In the end, one player will outlast the others and expose the mole to win the pot.

According IMDB, The molethe first two seasons were hosted by AndersonCooper and featured everyday and average people as contestants on the show. Seasons 3 and 4, however, cast celebrities and had an Emmy-winning sportscaster. Ahmad Rashad as a host. Its fifth and final season by ABC was hosted by Jon Kelley and returned to welcoming non-famous attendees.

It wasn’t immediately clear if Netflix was planning to launch celebrities, civilians, or a mix of the two. Further details like the release date of the show and the host have yet to be made available.
