Developer Wish Studios with Thunderful, they used the Future Game Show to present their next video game project, Lana’s Planet, a cinematic puzzle-adventure game billed as “An Odyssey Beyond Earth”. During this event, the game’s gameplay trailer was released, along with some new information about the game itself.
Below is what the gameplay trailer entails, if you can’t watch it for yourself just yet.
The new gameplay trailer shows more of the verdant forests and awe-inspiring deserts revealed in previous trailers, while giving us an intriguing glimpse of damp exchanges and dark atmospheric caves. Even more exciting are the hints the trailer offers as to what you can expect to do when you embark on this stunning art creation later this year. We see how Lana and her cat companion Mui must work together to deal with the many dangers and puzzles in their path, with Mui’s ability to influence the natural environment proving especially useful in this above-ground odyssey. From dangerous platforms to spindly-legged stalker robots, from cave-dwelling creatures to hulking monolithic walkers, Lana and Mui have both wondrous sights and a diversity of danger ahead of them.
Expected release on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One and PC in late 2022, Lana’s Planet follows the story of Lana and her faithful animal companion Mui, as they embark on a rescue mission to save the former’s sister in an alien world. This tale is experienced through the lens of a side-scrolling cinematic game format. From a gameplay point of view, Lana’s Planet sets out to provide “daring platforming, engaging puzzles, tense stealth sequences, and a companion mechanic that connects Lana and Mui.”
Lana’s Planet features a soundtrack by DICE- and BAFTA-nominated composer Takeshi Furukawa, and aims to deliver a visual style that “combines hand-drawn illustrations, intricate parallax overlay, and subtle use of 3D graphics to give the appearance of an interactive painting”.
