Magical community simulation game Calico is now available with Xbox Games with Gold, but the LGBTQ+ friendly game, which champions ideas of kindness, has unfortunately been bombarded on Xbox “by some pretty hateful bigoted people”.
It looks like the Xbox team is now on the case and looking into Calico’s reviews after its creators reported that some were using reviews as an option for “hate speech” and “bigotry”.

We’re told developer Peachy Keen Games aims to create “safe, fun, and relaxing video games,” which is very much the case with the Calico sim community, where you’re welcomed into a thriving friendly LGBTQ+ community. on themes of love and friendship.
Unfortunately, the team reported that “We’re getting reviews bombarded on Xbox pretty harshly by some pretty hateful bigoted people.” The developers warned players not to read these reviews, adding, “You shouldn’t be exposed to this kind of fanaticism…don’t go looking out of curiosity! I know we can get painfully curious to see what’s going on. is happening, but it’s the same old hate speech you usually see, nothing special at all! Save space and time for your brain. Take care and don’t look for it.
The Calico team has since confirmed that “Xbox handles reviews that include hate speech and targeted harassment,” adding, “We have no problem with negative reviews, we always have things to improve! Ok, those that include hate speech and slurs were really not acceptable… Reviews are so valuable to developers and players. We are a small team working on our skills, and reviews help us to figure out what issues we should be focusing on! We have valuable feedback to gather from there, and it makes things much easier when we don’t have to wade through fake reviews.”
